A full Audiological evaluation includes taking a thorough case history, understanding your past and current health conditions, any significant noise exposure-and much more. It includes otoscopic examination of your outer ears and ear canals. Mechanical conditions of each middle-ear are determined, as are integrity of the hearing nerves from the inner ears to the brain. Air conduction audiometric thresholds are determined as are bone conduction thresholds. Speech discrimination ability is assessed. Comparison to past results (if any) is done. A full Audiological evaluation determines not just the degree of hearing loss in each ear and its likely cause, but also the effects on one's life and ability to accurately interact with others.
An Audiological evaluation can only be administered by a licensed Audiologist and should not be confused with a hearing screening nor a hearing test used for the sale of hearing aids. At Sun City Audiology, state of the art computer based test equipment is utilized, from digital imaging of your ears, to assessing the mechanical state of your ears, to sound testing and more. This equipment is available in portable form as well, for those clients desiring concierge services/home visits.
